Urine Test

Hi I've had a blood test for full blood count and liver function as have been taking tegretol for a couple of months for neuralgia. Had blood test last week and doc has just rang and want a urine sample to test for protein, does anyone know why that would be requested as its connected to my blood test results xx that's all I know so far? X many thanks x

Well.....long term use of Tegretol can in a very few cases cause kidney damage and this would show up as protein in the urine.

Just a guess.
You could ask if he is taking the ... mickey.

Not necessarily if you were predisposed or reacted in an exaggerated manner to them .

Just had a thought.....maybe one of the blood tests was abnormal possibly suggesting kidney problems.

But I like my first suggestion the better;-)

my gp surgery get points for doing a PCR urine test on all its patients with certain illnesses.treatments. They do it yearly. its possibloe you've fallen into the category and nowis the time of year they do them

I think so too I dropped sample off and asked for blood test results and was told fine but doc had put attachment on and requested urine sample!! X
