I never saw him cook anything, but on the very rare occasion he would make a pot of tea. Having said that, he was very clever with his hands, musical, arty, very gentle & the most comical Dad you could ever wish to meet.
On the other hand, my husband works, gets shopping on the way home, enjoys cooking delish meals & is very helpful. It's probably because his Mum died when was only 14, so he & his Dad shared all the chores until he married me. He's also clever with his hands, arty, very gentle & comical too.
It must be a subconcious learned behaviour, as my real dad, who commited suicide when I was younger, was a bit of a gangster, shady deals, disappearing acts etc, but my step dad is this incredibly creative, practical, unselfish man. My fiance will do anything for me, he even went on a boating holiday for 2 weeks with me, I only found out afterwards that he is hydrophobic! (He said he thougt he was going to die every night!)
He tries his best to be practical, but I am naturally adept at it moreso than him. So he is therefore like my step dad. However, he has a shifty past, with some scary characters as drinking pals. Rather like a version of my biological father (with self control) I am attracted to both of those sides of him, so he is both my Dad's! How wierd is that?!
