Does anyone have any personal experience of the above? If so, has it helped in any way and have you continued with it? Or did you find it useless and a bit of quackery?
Sorry, I can't post a link as I'm on my iPad and don't know how to :(
Thanks.

I paid £25 for an hour session.. you go once a week and are given exercises to do at home. I also paid [I think it was] £55 for the starter session which was two hours and my teacher videoed me walking, sitting and standing and took about 100 photos of my posture so that it could be compared at a later stage. Woofy, I have tried many times to master this but just can't seem to get my head round it. I had no problem when I used a proper computer with a mouse but this blooming iPad...well,it's beyond me.
Pixie, it's about posture and much more, dealing with the whole person. I was browsing the osteoporosis society website earlier and on their forum (I'm not a member) someone mentioned the Alexander technique. As with most things which I know little or nothing about, I thought I'd ask the question and find out a bit more about it.

I have tried it and found it a massive help. I stopped going when I had cancer and since then I have not been able to afford to return. Make sure you find a reputable teacher [my GP recommended the lady I saw].
Its a strange experience that is hard to explain but it works on the basis of re-teaching you how to balance your body using the muscles that naturally support us as opposed to the ones we have 'learned' to use.
If you have the spare cash I would definitely recommend it.

I had 7 sessions and in that time my painful shoulder was 'cured' and I learned to sit lol. Sounds bizarre but I have a lot of pain issues now [spinal] and the only thing I can do in any degree of comfort is sit using the techniques I learned.... just as well as I type for a living.

I will add... there are many videos on line of the AT as there are yoga and pilates. All well and good but I think most people would agree with me, you really can not beat one on one teaching. If I could afford it I would be back like a shot [albeit a slow and painful one ;0) ]
