I had lens implants a few years ago, a bit like cataract surgery, instead of laser treatment, so I don't need glasses for long distance. My question is, will my sight alter, I.e will I need to change my reading glasses, have eye tests etc or will the sight remain the same ?

For all intents and purposes, your sight will not alter following intra-ocular lens insertion.

Your present reading glasses will be fine.
Hi Smurfchops

I had laser eye surgery (best thing ever) and was told that i would still probably have to have reading glasses when I was older because it is caused by the muscles in the eye deteriorating and it is nothing to do with the lens.

So I think your reading glasses will probably the same but they do recommend an eye test after a year. BUt you prescription should not change at all.

Well done you isn't it great to be able to see?
sorry took too long to type :-)
Hi Belrec - glad to hear that your eye laser has gone so well.

I would love it done but I am a cowardly coward. Was it painful at the time and after. Thanks for any info. I am sick of spectacles particularly as I am only wearing them full time for about 2 years now.
Hi Connemmara,

No pain at all during the proceedure just weird uncomfortableness.

Then for a week after eyes felt a bit scratchy like when you are really tired and a littel bit achy but no pain.

I had mine done about 4 years ago and it was one of the best things i have ever done, slick proceedure, professional caring staff.

I went to Optical Express and would recommend them highly.

I think you can get a free first consultation to see if you can have it and what you would be charged etc, worth going just for that :-)
thanks belrec for your answer. Conne

have made a few attempts to get the consultation but cancelled - maybe next year.
PS Belrec

Also I think these implants have moved on after 4 years - there are other options.
You are probably right the technology is fast paced :-)

I had implants - see Sqad's description - not laser, it is great but since then I believe they can perfect both long sight and short sight. I went to Moorfields, wouldn't take a chance with my eyes on the High Street but well worth it. They did one eye, I went home with a patch on overnight, next day I could see. Went back following week and they did other eye ! Amazing.
