Broody For Grandchildren

OK...I'm probably being totally selfish here...I accept that....
I'm in my mid sixties, and fear I will not see grandkids at a time when I can enjoy them. Lil pasta is VERY career minded...at 28 she has no intention of having children any time soon,as she is on the verge of finishing her degree this year, and hopefully travelling in whatever job she does. She is in a long term relationship...but ever cautious...he may not be " the one".
Today I passed a young woman on her mobile to her nan....and suddenly wanted that closeness that I heard in her voice. It pains me that it may be years before I am a gran. I never thought I'd feel this way, as I've never been baby/child orientated....it's not helped by being surrounded by 50-something grannies at work. Has anyone else felt this...is it 'normal'?

Please, please take them & their coughs, colds & germs. You will be stunk out of the house with their poops & greed for KFC & pizzas. Gwan, have mine.....FREE ;)

Hard for me to answer, Pasta as my son has two children. Don't see them as much as I used to before their Mum lost her marbles but I'm fine with that.
I do feel abnormal sometimes because I have no angst about it but I think it's because of the life I have.
When I say I would like the daughter to settle down it's assumed I want more grandchildren....no I don't.....I'm easy either way.
I think it is "normal" for people....especially women... to want a grandchild. I see it in my friends....and the joy when one comes along. They love being a gran.

My son has no intention of ever having kids, it used to.bother me but since becoming a great aunt (3x over so far) I am starting to realise I like my non kid friendly house how it is and as Tambo says they are constantly snotty or coughing their germs everywhere. I think the idea of grandchildren is a romantic notion that bears no relation to the stinky germs messy truth.
