Ears Feel As If I Have Been At A Rock Concert!

Since waking yesterday my ears have felt very odd. They are fine if it is quiet but any noise at all sounds really loud. It feels as if i have been to a really loud concert.

I have had a bug which I am just getting over (sore throat, cough, aches etc) so is it likely to be connected to that? Sinus congestion or something? I don't feel bunged up any longer.

An odd symptom and I presume, you have no pain dizziness or ear discharge.
It is unlikely to be due to sinus congestion and nothing sinister comes to mind.

Monitor the situation for the next 3 days.

That's what I thought sqad - very odd indeed! Very annoying too mind you.
Correct - no discharge although it is slightly painful. Not important enough to go to doc so will keep and eye (or ear!) on it for a few days as you suggest. Thanks.

No ringing, just like a dullness pixie.

You have probably tinnitus - it can sound all sounds from dull to humming. It becomes more noticeable in silence. It will go away if it is that.

Don't think so connemmara, I don't notice anything if there is silence. It is only when there is noise that I notice it.

My ears were quite bad last night and this morning so I spoke to a doc from my pracrice over the phone. She sais that I maybe had fluid in my ears so to call in for something. When I got there she had prescribed me a nasal decongestant and antihistamines - 3 months worth! Is it normal to give antihistamines out in that kind of quantity?

shiny......seems reasonable diagnosis, but 3 months supply of anti-histamines seem a bit excessive.
