Not everyone has a smily facy - try smiling with your eyes as you walk about, it's better than looking grumpy.

Phew, I was worried you might have posted the clip of me making new earrings....

Thanks for not posting that one, DT !.
The next person that tells you to smile, just say that a hug would really help and open your arms.

Simply put... you don't.

(As long as you won't get into trouble for doing this) The next time someone says to you "It takes less muscles to smile than it does to frown." Reply with "It takes even fewer to do this AND GIVE THEM THE MIDDLE FINGER! (There's no muscles in the hand)
Just do a nice Jack Nicholson grin, they'll never dare ask you again..
Just ignore them, I get it quite a lot, they either get a filthy look or completely ignored. I've no interest in a strangers opinion of my mood. (I also rarely look smiley but I'm acually quite cheerful most of the time).

I was a serious lad and only smiled when something made me smile. I used to get quite depressed at the implied message from the 'it won't happen' brigade that because I didn't smile a lot then I must be miserable. It is in fact a form of bullying however (allegedly) well meant. So take china doll's advice, I wish I had..
tell them to sod off.
i think it depends on someones personality. I mean everyone can PRETEND to ignore it, thats easy. but really igniring it is the hard part. some people dwell on things and think things out more than others. I know because i see people do it.
