I have had three back to back colds now since 27th Jan, I just get over one then I get another one, I'm really fed up with them now. Anyone else had them?
You must be run down puss, go to the doctor and tell him. My daughter has been the same, coughs and sniffles since Christmas. Today she went to see her GP who has diagnosed tonsillitis so she's on antibiotics for a week or so.
I always thought that antibiotics were for infections and I don't think I have an infection just constant runny nose and a cough, the cough is only at night when I lie down, a constant tickle at the back of my throat, it stops when I get up. I am wondering if it is due to me having psoriasis, this is an auto immune condition, so could my immune system be fighting too much, I could do with sqad giving his opinion.
As far as colds are concerned, antibiotics are just an ineffectual panacea which some GPs issue to get rid of patients (from the surgery that is, not permanently) and to ensure appropriate "rewards" from the powerful drug companies.
Sounds like post nasal drip? Or could it be that you are allergic to your bedding? I have various auto-immune things like asthma, eczema and had a constantly runny nose for 30 years until I gave up dairy. Then it just vanished! Been fine ever since- snot-wise. you should also try a huge dose of vitamin C, echinacea and perhaps gargle with salty warm water to kill any bacteria in your throat.
I always thought that antibiotics were useless for colds which are viral, I usually just sit them out and just take paracetamol, but to have a month now of feeling cr*p is getting me down.
puss.....I am not sure that antibiotics have any part to play in your problem.
If you have attacks of sneezing, an allergic element may well be involved.
However, there is a condition of vasomotor rhinitis which produces nasal symptoms similar to yours which is caused by alternate exposure to cold weather and then back into central heating.
A nasal spray could help, but only available from your GP, in the meantime Otrovine may do the trick on a temporary basis.
Think about how many times you touch your face and and mouth. How often do you wash your hands? A simple effective way to prevent colds is to wash your hands often. Also try taking some antihistamines.
I have same as you. Sneezes, sore throat, cough which comes and goes - sometimes it's terrible. Runny nose and eyes water. I am not allergic to anything or particularly rundown. Have cough medicine sometimes and some day nurse occasionally. Like you say it seems like it's going then comes back. At least it's not just me.
