Have you tried lots of soap?
Or put your hand in ice cold water- that should shrink your finger.

Chill your hand to reduce blood flow and elevate it above you head so that the blood drains from your finger. When the swelling has reduced use a lubricant such as KY jelly or washing up liquid to help slide the ring off.

i wouldnt do that ff. i think the metal would shrink before your finger ;-)

Well it worked for me (not deliberately though)- my wedding ring slid off my finger when I was in ice cold sea water once

You chop the finger off at the base, slide the ring backwards, then glue the finger back on again.

Alternative you can get a ring cut off, but that's less of a tale for your grandchildren.

Is there a chance the finger will become well swollen in the future ? Does the ring need to be removed now ?

Just chop your finger off, remove ring then a trip to A&E and get it sown back on. Sorted.

Loop a bit of ribbon on the ring and work it round the finger. Difficult to explain but it does work. Could put some lubricant on finger too.

Further to Jomifl's reply, I just smiled at the thought of going into the local chemist and asking for KY jelly - and explaining "it's for me ring."

This happened to my daughter we went to the fire station where a helpfull fireman cut it off (the ring not the finger) with pair of special cutters made for such jobs.
