A lady in Gateshead, deaf since birth, has had surgery and hearing has been acquired. A minor story, or a stunning miracle? For her, this outcome must be world-shattering, affecting her speech,thinking ability, ego-status and happiness to the Nth degree.
Brilliant science, ecstatic woman....agreed?

Have a feeling that after a while when the novelty of hearing wears off she will wish she was still deaf, she will miss the silence.
Scylax....two other people have posted about this....which says something doesn't it?
I worked with deaf children who had cochlear implants....brilliant science indeed.....life changing.....☺
lyall, many deaf people, even those deaf from birth have a tinnitus like affliction as well as being deaf.....
Lyall......never! I had been very deaf for about six weeks....I have never been so miserable and lonely.....I don't know how I could have lived with it if it had been permanent.....When my hearing came back this week I could have cried if I hadn't been shrieking with joy....☺
I confess I cried with her watching it! Absolutely amazing! I am generally chuffed for her :)
