...A big, daft, fat, chocolate labrador ran into me today whilst it was charging around playing with Tilly. I stayed upright, just, but I'm sure my legs went backwards by some degree. It really hurt and I limped home but was ok. Now, My left leg is very painful just below my knee, on the left side of my shin.

Will it wear off or may there be some damage?

RICE Tilly, rest, an icepack, compress gently if there is swelling and elevate your knee but with a rolled towel under the knee so its not completely straight...and a Sqad special wouldn't hurt or the pain relief of your choice. If its not improving, not better but improving, by monday, then to the doc.

I had a minor accident some years ago which tore the ligaments in both knees. I still have pain sometimes and use Absorbine Jr. You can't buy it here and I get it from ebay. It works very well. In the meantime, if you can take Ibuprofen, it should help with any swelling and pain. Ibuprofen makes me vomit, thus using the alcohol rub.
Hope you're feeling better soon!

See this morning's thread, svejk. I'll send you a photo of the dog.

Anyone have any serious advice on my leg? I need a physiotherapist, I think.
Tilly that is serious advice. I am a retired occuptional therapist, used to work in a community rehab team
Question Author
Thank you, woof and Sir A. I never thought to put an ice pack on it. I'll try that. I'll have some ibuprofen when I've eaten. I hope it's not torn ligaments. That would be dreadful. I suppose I would be in agony if it was the case. I'm not in agony. It just hurts.

Stupid dog!
Your doctor will decide whether it needs immediate treatment and refer you to a physiotherapist if there is lasting damage.
I too was being serious in my answer, pain isn't a joking matter!

They're big trouble those labs Tilly. Son and family have a springador (looks like a chocolate lab). He hot me with his tail last week, right on my wrist "knuckle" bone. It hurt like h*** i thought I'd lost the use of my hand!!!
Hope I didn't appear 'snarky' too, Tilly. Didn't realize that your answer was directed elsewhere!
Question Author
Sir Alec, your advice was welcome. Thanks again.

Horseshoes, his tail?
Yes Tilly, it REALLY hurts when he catches hits you with it. MASSIVE tail. Sometimes he wags it so hard that when it it's something it bleeds and then he literally sprays blood as it wags. (Imagine an out of control hosepipe)!!!

Reminder to self. Never have a Springador :-)
Yes Tilly, you'd do we'll to remember that. Hope your leg is better soon. x
