Type 2 Diabetic Really Trying To Be Good Now Porridge Oatcakes Still Not Sure What To Eat
10 Answers
Hi there after the fright of the last reading of BM of 28 and HBA1c of 11.4% I have taken this really much more seriously now. I am eating porridge for breakfast soup and oatcakes for lunc, fish and vegetables with brown bread for dinner and a weetabix for supper. Somebody said to me that brown bread was as bad as having a bar of chocolate with the carbohydrate spike this has puzzled me. I am trying to eat food that keeps me full for longer by hoping to stabilise blood sugars I have had no "bad" carbohydrate for 4 days now and I think I am suffering withdrawal I am pouring with sweat all the time and woke up in a panic in the night and sweating. Could this be all the sugar leaving my body. I am on 4 metformin and 4 glipazide a day so I really should hope my sugars would be down by now.

Don't get too clever with the "bad carbs" and the "good carbs"....they are not important.

I thought that you were having a daily shot of Victoza.

In simple terms.....you could be right.

Hi Gordie, good man, way to go, keep it up.
I've been Type 2 for about 4 years now, I changed my Diet the day I was diagnosed and have had the determination to stick with it, result is 4 years down the line I see the Practice Nurse twice a year for Bloods and feet checked yearly, and I'm NOT on any Medicines for it.
Stick with the New Regime and good luck!
Sqad they are seeing me on thursday and taking blood to check BM they are hoping I get it down with tablets and diet from 28, before they decide to put me on Victoza I am seeing diabetic GP on Friday. However I have heard good reports about it including weight loss so in a way Im hoping they will put me on it as planned.
