Brilliant! OK. his singing wasn't actually that great but the fact that he was able to get up there being very autistic and do that especially with all the surrounding noises etc. was amazing. It was spoiled a bit by all the religious clap trap surrounding it. Thanks for sharing!

And I would mind betting that this Christian group is raking it in by putting this young lads up on stage.

Apparently, his mother was a heroin addict who abandoned him. His uncle took him in and cared for him, but I do wonder if he is being exploited.
Butterbun, I would put money on it!!
I tend to agree a little re the exploitation , as a Grandmother of two autistic boys ( high functioning and not as damaged as this lad) - he sang well but it left me a bit uneasy.

However thank goodness he is now being loved.

No disrespect to the boy, I doubt he's been given an option, but it brings to mind someone having a dog or other animal, lets say for example a one trick pony and exploiting it for all it's worth!
Mamyalynne I agree, if he is being loved for who he is it is a huge step in the right direction.

I do have a feeling that I have seen this lad before, quite a few years ago though, I may be wrong.

My youngest gd was diagnosed a few months ago with Asperger's syndrome, very hyperactive, short attention span, needs lots of love and attention. It would be almost a tragedy if this child was being 'made' to do this although he seemed pleased he managed a good performance.

Ratter, I think it's been on here in the last few months, can't find the link at the moment though!
I remember this being on before and the Aber was shot down in flames. This boy is a bit older now and still very much into doing what he does. He does not get paid for it. Wait for the following threads Butterbun. You will be surprised.

///although he seemed pleased he managed a good performance///

Maybe that's because it meant he wouldn't get a clip round the ear, or worse, churches don't have the best track record for childcare!

CannedGranny, after just over a year on this site, nothing surprises me anymore. I saw this for the first time just before the weekend. It moved me.
Cannedgranny "He does not get paid for it." you bet he doesnt, I bet the church does very well out of it though.
