Small Peripheral Neuropathy

i know i have posted stuff about back and stabbing buttock pain, but this is something i have been told, and this below is what's happening, only its got worse in the last few months, course of action seems to be medicines like Gabapentin, pregablin
anything else, as i was given gabapentin and it caused constant room spinning, slurring, would it be best to start again lower dose and build up to it.

they seem to have discounted diabetes, however the neurologist i saw said everything that i said pointed to it, but the fasting test i did says no.
the strange thing is that i have had no explanation of the mri scan by the neurologist, my appointment with them is sept, so much of what's on it is gobblydegook, sorry...

There is a non medication help for peripheral neuropathy that worked well for my OH who has the painful condition in the feet due to diabetes. It was recommended some years back by nurse who said it was discovered purely by accident that this product works to stop the pain (can't cure it of course) and we have recommended it to others who found it worked for them too.

It is called Opsite Flexiguard and although the primary use for it is treating wounds, it works too on PN. have just looked on the manufacturers website ( Smith & Nephew) and notice one of its indications now given is to relieve pain in peripheral neuropathy which it didn't show some time back. Opsite can be got on prescription, is easy to apply and in our experience definitely relieved the bad pain. I don't know if this helps you emmie but thought it worth mentioning. At least it would mean you wouldn't have to take prescription drugs.

thank you, i now have an urine infection, so more medicines,
by far the worse is the stabbing sensations, like sharp knives in buttocks, legs, so have to at least try and sort that part,

emmie....if i understand you,then you are suggesting that your symptoms may be due to a peripheral neuropathy brought on by the use of Gabentin.
Is this correct.
Firstly, your main symptoms of extreme pain over various parts of your body are not characteristic of the diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy.

You could start on a small dose of Gabentin, but i would discuss this with your GP.

i was told this after seeing the neurologist months ago, it was her suggestion. however she did say first off she thought i had diabetes,
did a nerve legs, arms not nice, the lower legs, sticking large needles thought i would faint, incredibly painful. the stabbing in buttocks has me screaming, sorry i have had this over a year, and been worn to a fraz, the
gabapentin made the room go round, and round, and as i already have vertigo, which this definitely wasn't, as that comes and goes at will,
this was constant, and i sounded like i was slurring my words, i had to call the doctor out as it was late. he said likely too high a dose to start off with, in total 300m 100am 100pm, 100pm before bed.

sorry, i was told by neurologist long before when she did the nerve test
she believed and put it in a report i have small peripheral neuropathy,
so after seeing her, my doctor prescribed the gabapentin, to counter the stabbing buttock, leg pains, which i took as prescribed the effect wasn't good -

Ask you GP about restarting Gabentin.

i will have to do something, this is the proverbial nightmare, i was also told its quite common, blimey

i wish that i didn't have to wait for over 6 months to get an analysis of the MRI, i can understand some i guess, but much of it is like a foreign language - my GP's change like the weather, so you never seem to see the same one twice.
Two weeks ago I had short burning sensation under my left armpit down to breast, like standing next to a fire and was told by gp likely it was nerve damage. so now sad and confused.

just got this itchy sensation, scratched down one arm and towel dried across my shoulders after a shower, red welts have appeared and are not going. the same for the belly, that keeps on happening, itch then scratch and large parts of the skin go bright red
my skin feels so sensitive to anything, and dried out no matter how much cream i put on. nervous rash, or underlying stuff.

As you appreciate, skins are not my forte, but for what it is worth, the description sounds more psychosomatic than "underlying stuff."

could be, i don't discount that, just that the skin is ultra ultra sensitive, even to what i wear, nothing feels right, loose clothing even, its bonkers

I found Tegretol (Carbamazepine) somewhat kinder than Gabapentin.

and for nothing, the same pains, itchy redness around the knees for weeks,
and was in the sun for 10 minutes the other day and lower legs looked mottled, red and white patches, i feel totally dehydrated, no matter the level of water, and i am shipping more than the titanic.
can the body stop hydration somehow, leaky gut, i only ask because i most definitely have acid that burns inside, so i steer away from any foodstuffs that would irritate -

the gut,
so no chilli, spices, not mexican food, curry, other spices, even milk makes me feel sick, these are long term, so i have avoided them like the plague
