it's on the back,there is no redness and I have stopped wearing shoes(in flip flops) as they rub,been like this for 3 weeks.There is a slight lump,is it an age thing?

if the "lump" is boney hard........then it may well be a "spur"....nothing to worry about and providing it does not give pain then no treatment is required.

I never associate soreness with pain.............but OK.

Then Ibuprofen should "kick off" the treatment".
