Dear Carakeel is really going through it at the moment, she cannot weight bear on her right leg due to the replacement knee coming loose in the lower half of her leg and awaiting another op to replace it, so she is back to using her crutches again.
The problem with this is she has painful hands due to very bad carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis in one hand and still in pain after a carpel tunnel operation and arthritis in the other hand.
With her having so much pain in her hands from using her crutches we went back to the Physio at the hospital, they were bloody useless, the best they could come up with was padding the handle of her crutches. We asked if we could have a pair of the old type (under the arm) crutches, they said that they don't supply them any more because people don't usually have pain in their hands and their legs together. REALLY!!!!
So onto Facebook and looking to buy a pair of our own locally we asked on one of the local FB pages when someone gave me the above link and said they are fantastic. I ordered a pair and they were amazingly delivered the next day, well they really are great!
Obviously they aren't a miracle cure but being able to distribute the weight between the hand and the forearm has made walking so much easier. They are also a very affordable £79.00 and free delivery.
Totally impressed!!
Im not sure I should be advertising like this but if they can help others....

No date for the op yet, just that I have been put on priority list and my surgeon wants to get me in before August. These smartcrutches are a great improvement and the pain in my hands is a lot less now. It can't take the pain away from my knee, as the bone is breaking away from the top of the lower implant, but I am really pleased with them anyway. Of course, our keeva has just come into season, so I hope they don't call me in for the op till she is through this, or the boys will have their wicked way with my young lady. Grrr!
Hello my lovelies! Thank you for your kind words. I'm a tough old bird really, so I'll be fine (as long as I have my ratter beside me!) Jeza, I am in love with our new home, as are our hounds. It is a joy to look after and a joy to live in and I would quite happily stay here for the rest of my life. But, that isn't on the cards really. It is lovely having so much space though! xxx
Firstly, best wishes to Carakeel. Hope she gets relief soon.
Wish I had known about those crutches a couple of months ago. My 15 year old GD injured her leg (dedicated ballet dancer) on a Sunday, went to A&E, they were unable to give a full diagnosis because of the swelling, strapped lower leg and gave her the new type crutches. She had an exam the next day so struggled into school. Split site, stairs. Her father went to collect her at the end of the day. Her hands were bleeding from using the crutches.
Did not have the same problem with the underarm crutches when she was injured two years earlier.
New is not necessarily better.

Thank you Naomi That is very sweet of you to say!xxx! Anne, keep breathing please, we would really miss you on here if you didn't! Hugs!
Daisy, that is terrible! Your poor GD! What is nice about these is that you can adjust them, so that if you need to you can increase how much weight goes on to the arm or hand areas. Hope your GD had a speedy recovery! xxx

I already own a pair of smart crutches and I love them. Wish I had discovered them years ago. I’ve been on crutches for 15 yrs and the ordinary crutches have had an impact on my hands, leading to operations involving small bones being removed. Had I of discovered these back then, I am sure I wouldn’t of been going down the operation route.
I’ve had this pair for a few years now and there’s nothing wrong with them just fancied a colour change.
There’s no way I would go back to ordinary crutches now.
Well done to the guy who invented them.
