advice please

i have been mailing a friend of a friend for a few months now..... never met him but i replied to a group email once to everyone instead of just the one person and we ended up getting chatting. we get on really well and have agreed to meet  but now i am having second thoughts..... what do i say without making him feel bad???

I have met with people over the net etc in the past and there's always intial nerves - how about going out with your nutual friend and a few others? It doesn;t have to go anywhere but at least should be a good night out!

Why are you having second thoughts?

It is scary, but you're not promising him anything by meeting him.  You're just meeting as friends.  If there is no chemistry there, then say so after you've met and you never have to see him again.  But you never know.
