I had a bleed in my brain, although I don't drive I have been advised not to.
Depends.....what sort of brain haemorrhage and what are the physical results.

It is recommended you keep your insurance company informed at all times of any health issues
and any changes to your condition, as well as any vehicle modifications. Failure to disclose information may result in your policy being invalidated.

If you have problems with your insurance, the British Insurance Brokers Association can advise you on the most appropriate insurance policy for you and your vehicle.

Other advice

• You must be able to read a number plate at a specified distance: this is 20 metres for
new style plates and 20.5 metres for older style ones.
• You may be able to drive a car with automatic transmission if the only limitation you have
is to your left leg.
• If you also have upper limb problems it is likely that adaptations will be required to ensure you have full control of the car at all times, especially with regard to control of the steering and indicator

So.....yes......you may be....it all depends on your resultant physical impairments....if any.
I have had a brain aneurysm, My driving licence was suspended for 12 months.
Forgot to add that at the end of the 12 months my GP had the say as to whether I was fit to drive again.
It's essentially down to the DVLA. If they are happy for someone to continue to drive, that's all that's needed. It is important, however, as others have said to keep the insurer informed.
My husband had a ruptured brain aneurysm last July and he was allowed to drive as soon as he felt well enough.
sherr, they must have changed the rules since 1994.
He was v lucky though so maybe that made a difference. They are not concerned that it is re-filling either.
Thats good news, sherr. Im my case the consultant said that I had to phone the DVLA and tell them what had happened, I did and they said that I had to send my driving licence to them as it will be suspended for one year ( normal procedure they said ).

Thank you all very much all very helpfull, although I should have mentioned that I was infact writing about myself and I should have been more spesific. I did indeed have a brain heaorrhage back in April caused by a ruptured aneuysm I was operated on and the aneuysm was coiled -(filled with pllatinum) I am assured by my GP that the chances of it ever happening again are the same chances as winning the lottery I have not yet informed my insurance compannor the dvla, although may I add I have not driven my car either for almost 12 weeks i was just wanting some feed back on what I will be likely to face as and when I do inform them, I am off sick from my job at the moment and I really do need to drive to where I work
pussyfoot, for peace of mind check with your insurer's.
Considering my husband's aneurysm is re-filling I might buy some lottery tickets!
Oh gawd, I missed that part in your post above, sherr, I find that strange that they are not concerned about the re-filling.
They didn't coil his, they used something which we now know is 'experimental'. If it had been coiled they could have re-coiled but they can't so we aren't sure what he is facing :(

On the plus side, it has made us face up to some stuff, so two weeks tomorrow we are off to Disney World (can't take it with you after all).
Blimey sherr, experimental !, any idea what it was ?. They used clips on mine.
Have a great time in Disney World.
It's like a little metal umbrella thing, discredited in many countries (according to himself & google). The hospital is monitoring the situation but failed to see him last time he went!

Why did they fail to see him, sherr ?.
He's complained to the informal complaints department (they also have a formal complaints department!) but they haven't got back to him yet. They also failed to give him an angiogram the first time he went back for a check up (not overly impressed with the follow up service).

(Sorry for gossiping Pussyfoot)

Hi sherr sorry to hear about your hubby it must be a worrying time for you, but go ahead and get those lottery tickets and I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Enjoy disney world. Ive no idea what you mean about an umberella thing I've never heard of that one although I've heard of the clips that Tonyav talks of I think that the coiling is fairly new aswell and I have'nt really heard of any failures with the procedure may I wish anyone who has been unfortunate enough to be inflickted all the very best xxx
sherr, if I were you I'd complain about it again. Does he have to go back to the Q E again for any type of check up ?.
