Does anyone know what causes this? It feels like there is a "lump" in my throat when I try and swallow. I also have a headache, lots of snot (sorry) and feel hot. I don'y feel bad enough for flu, but just wish I could cure my throat, since this is what I need the most!!

any advice greatly appreciated!x

Poor you!! gargle with soluble aspirin

Sounds like sinusitis to me and along with that you get something called Post Nasal Drip. This effectively means that your sinuses are draining and the infection is going down the back of your nose thereby irritating your throat and causing the symtoms you are describing.

Its horrible but if you google then you might come up with pain relief which suits you.I tend to endure it because once you know what it is you often feel less worried.

It will be over soon - honest!!!

I agree with Buddy, sounds like you've got sinusitis. I've had it once.. and that was enough for me!!!! Thumping head (like someone inside with a sledgehammer), feeling hot (REALLY hot) and lots of snot and grot.. nasty!

I got temporary relief from inhaling steam over a bowl of hot water with a few drops of Olbas Oil in it (and towel over my head). But the thing that shifted it was antibiotics. I took something called Nordox and within a few days felt much better. Take care now!! :)
Are you taking Doxycycline? Most people take it for treating acne. If not taken with sufficient amounts of water (8oz for each pill) it irritates your esophocaus (spelling?) causing a "lump" feeling in your throat.

I know because it happenend to me and as soon as my doctor instructed me to drink 8oz it went away.
