Germolene

When and why did they change Germolene from a pink ointment with a pleasant smell and a mild sting when applied to the odourless white stuff in a nondescript tube as available now?

I can still smell the distinctive smell in it, though it isn't quite as strong as it used to be and it's a bit more cream like.
They are recent purchases too as I've been using a fair bit of it and from different places, pharmacy and chemists.
It has changed though, I quite like the smell, it's quite a nice comforting making things better smell :) It has been close in sniffing distance though as I've been using it on a breast abscess and then an allergic reaction to some tape I was holding a dressing on with, which took chunks out of my skin! :(
