I currently receive Disability Living Allowance, I reach retirement age in 2015 ,will I still receive the allowance or does it end when I reach 65?
Many thanks
No, you will still get it, but they are changing to a new system so you might have to fill in another form. I turned 64 this year and I am still getting DLA.
DLA does not finish when you are retiring age however you will be asked if you want to apply for Personal Independence Payment which has already commenced in some areas. When you will be asked depends on whether your existing DLA is a time limit award or an Indefinite Award. If indefinite award you will be asked sometime after October 2015. Stricter rules apply to PIP.
If you were under 65 when PIP came in you will still have to apply for the new award. PIP came into operation from April 2013. There will be people who are 65 and over when they are asked if they wish to start PIP application.
