Does anyone know how to stop getting bitten by harvest mites or if bitten anything that can be used to stop the itching?

You can deter them by avoiding tall grassy walks or wearing long sleeves/ trousers with tightly woven fabric when out and about, same with mowing the lawn (long clothing). Also, buy a permethrin cream to put them off biting you. To treat the itching use Calamine lotion or hydrocortisone

Never heard of them! However, insect bites are usually relieved by an anti-histamine cream....ask at pharmacy counter for the cheapest, non-branded one.
Eat a lot of garlic.

My favourite observation on it is: 'Do not wear dog or cat flea collars on your ankles to ward off harvest mite larvae' lol
Why not? Don't they work? ;-)
apparently they do on cats and dogs but can cause an adverse reaction on human skin...
another way of pimping up an electronic tag though I guess... ;o)

Actually "wee calf" in our area this is a serious problem at this time of the year,with many people being bitten by harvest mites

Try Jungle Formula wipes, roll on or spray, available from any chemist. And aqueous calamine cream helps the itching, as well as antihistamines
