"If Only..."
...I had known that when I was younger...
Regret may be a wasted emotion - we can't change the past but we can learn from it, 'n all that, but...
No matter what age you are now, is there something you have learned from experience which would have been helpful to you when you were younger and less wise?
Please no "you only learn from your mistakes/it's all part of the rich tapestry of life/I don't regret a single thing/all my mistakes led me to the happy place I'm at now" type stuff: We're talking pure melancholic "if only i'd known that when i was younger" here, and i betcha most of you can think of something.
PS. "I wish I hadn't done that" is also valid currency here...

I wish I hadn't started drinking at such a young age. Appreciating my childhood more when I was actually in it. Taking more time to be thankful. Reading more. Listening to my parents wisdom.
The hardest one to deal with is that at least right now in my life, I am completely in love with a man I have been with for 5 years. But I am a performer, and worked professionally in New York. He is not. I have moved home to be with him and my family, I no longer perform professionally but I am involved in the community theaters....but Im scared that someday down the road... I will regret it, or worse I will resent the love of my life. I guess I'll just have to wait and find out.
Thanks for the conversation everyone. Its a pleasure hearing your thoughts.
