Mosquitos have got me good and proper this week; my arms are bitten alive and I can't stop scratching.

I'm alternating antihistamine cream with zapping the bites with my small electrical clicker but its all worn off overnight and I'm scratching like mad again this morning. Any tried and tested solutions?

Thanks Minty, i'll look at those for next time.

Any tried and tested solutions to relieve the itching now?

Don't scratch, it makes it worse.

I've just tried dabbing them with a bicarb and water solution, lets see how that goes.
I've read that stopping air getting to the bite helps. See here:

I use a cool cucumber stick thing it's a roll on meant for using under tired eyes...get them in home bargains for a pound...calamine lotion ? How about a bicarbonate paste ? That will neutralize an acid bite or sting...a thick paste dabbed on ?
Great minds ! Lol
I find that bathing the bites when they itch with warm water helps to calm them down.
I find a dab of surgical spirit does the trick. Stings a bit but it works for me.
boxing gloves

scratching bites like this - bad really bad
If you have got a lot of bites then try an oral antihistamine, it works for me.
Go and see your pharmacist, you can buy something like Piriton over the counter as an antihistamine.
cetirizine is available from supermarkets and is less drowsy making that piriton.
Try an ice cube on the bites.

Thanks all. A cool pack calmed them, but there are loads so I tried the bicarb solution and am almost itch free now!

That was nearly 4 hours ago so I can recommend it. One teaspoon of bicarb in a cup full of lukewarm water. Stir and dab on all over with a cotton wool pad.

As a preventative measure, try taking an odourless garlic tablet each day. Mo O used to be eaten alive but since he started with these pills he has rarely been bitten
Ed stated this week that a dab of toothpaste could relieve itchy insect bites.
