I had three teeth extracted, a number of fillings, and a tooth added to a partial denture. The total cost more than £700.
Do they think we're made of money?

That seems cheap.

I mentioned to the taxi driver that I was going for some fillings and she said that at my age I was lucky to still have teeth. At these prices I'm not so sure.
that seems to be fairly cheap to me sandy. I pay an insurance and it would still have cost me a lot more to get that lot done.
i'm older than you sandy and still have mine thank goodness. not based on age imo but how you care for them.

Colinandjess, a while back a had a really painful abscessed tooth and they were the only ones who would see me quickly. So I stayed with them.
I've paid £1700 this year for 2 bridges and that is an NHS dentist but they said they couldn't do that work on NHS. My NHS option was to have a tooth that spent the night ina glass.

Well now you are at least, partially made of plastic :0)
why do you think they wear masks, sandy?
sandy i wonder what would happen if you said ,sorry can't afford that .

mallyh, they'd probably have said: Fair enough, let me show you to the door.
no wonder people have bad teeth .
Nope, they think you're made of fillings and partial dentures !

That much dentistry from a professional health practitioner won't come cheap. Worth it though. Would be a real issue trying to get it done on a pension though. Makes me think what's in store for me.
They could see you quickly before because they were not swamped with work due to the cost ;-).

i reckon they could have found a cheaper alternative if necessary. Maybe leave you with a gap, leave the less deteriorated teeth in a little while longer.
Why complain? You chose to go privately. Find an NHS dentist.

"...You chose to go privately..."
Oh dear. I've always been against private medical treatment where money helps you jump the queue or buys better treatment and that's what I've unwittingly done.
I'm ashamed of myself.
Hair shirt for you, my lad. ;o)
I bet you look lovely with you're new smile sandy :)
Question Author
I've been so long self conscious of my rotten teeth that I've taught myself not to smile. It will take some time for me to undo that conditioning.
But TY, anneasquith. ☻
