Hi im an African american boy. I had the typical black nappy hair but i recently got a haircut and my hair is a straight texture. How should i get it back to normal and should i just let it grow out ?

Growing out would be my suggestion. Most have had haircuts we weren't impressed with at one time or another. Grin & bear it.
You might need to consult a hairdresser who specialises in Afro-Caribbean hair types - I've seen several in the bigger cities as I've passed through.
I'm not a black African male; more mousy, blonde, very fine hair female - everyone has problems. Just let it grow out. If it doesn't (mine once went into very strange wavy bits) wait and accept it as yours. :)
I assume you've had a buzz cut 0.5mm type style (no 3 clipper or less) you need to wait for growth to 6+mm before the kink shows. Might take a month's growth.
