I've received an appointment to go for treatment for Osteoporosis with Denosumab. Could anyone enlighten me on this please? What I want to know really is, will it make me unwell as I had treatment for this a few years ago with Zolendronic Acid and it made me really poorly. many thanks.

It might.........the most common side effects are backache, water work problems and skin irritation and swelling at the injection site. These may not be significant and may be only transient and annoying, not requiring treatment.
There are others which are much less common.

ethandron I had to stop taking calcium because it was in my blood, it has a name for it but I can't remember what it is. When I had my DEXA scan it seems the Osteoporosis is quite bad in my spine but they have this thing called NICE and you have to meet the criteria. I expect sqad will be able to explain better than me. x
My mum has that for cancer that has gone through the bones. It replaced her Zometa (zolendronic acid) because her kidneys were showing signs that it was having a harsh effect on them which happens. The Oncologist told me that Denosumab is a more expensive drug so I presume that is why they give Zometa first. She has no side effects at all.
