Broken Blood Vessels On Arms

I keep finding these & have one at the moment which is 1" x 1/2" & it itched like mad at first but not now. Purple coloured. I don't remember banging my arms but if I scratch my skin then one appears. This has only been happening for about 3-4 months on & off. I don't suppose it could be anything to do with being borderline type 2 diabetic could it?

Are you taking aspirin daily?
Are you over 65 years of age?
No, it is nothing to do with your Type 2 diabetes.
It may be age related..thin skin, easily damaged.
See your GP who may arrange a blood test.
It doesn't sound a big deal.

thanks Sqad. Yes, I am over 65. I do not take Aspirin. I remember my Mum having similar & steroid use was blamed as it made her skin very thin. I only had steroid injections some time back with my locked fingers. Otherwise, I'm quite fit & healthy. Oh, by the way, the latest hand consultant says I will just have to live with my locked middle & ring fingers!!

Almost certainly age-related capillary fragility. These little subcutaneous haemorrhages often appear spontaneously. As Sqad says, 'no big deal'.

I'm 75, and I began to get these in the summer of 2013. They appear on my right lower arm, near the wrist, and the cause seems to be if I carry a heavy weight, or use a screwdriver (a gripping, twisting action). They appear about 24 hours after I have done the action. After a day or two, they begin to fade. They seem to result from some kind of subcutaneous stress, rather than an external blow. I don't treat them in any way, because they don't stay for long.

I get these sometimes, I can't say that there is anything that I have noticed I do to provoke them, but there must be something as they come in a few batches and then disappear. I did go to a dermotologist and she said, as did Sqad, they are age related and no big deal. I wouldn't worry, but see your dermo if in doubt.
