If i bend down for example , to put something in a filing cabinet - if i get up quickly i feel a bit disorientated .

What's going on there then ?

Blood drains out of the head so brain doesn't work as efficiently till you fill it up again.
Positional hypo-tension? Where's Sqad?
You're lucky you can get up quickly. If I bend down I can only get up very slowly, and sometimes not at all.
Could be many things.

Are you on tablets for BP?

Your body ( blood flow mainly) has to adjust to the upright position and there are many mechanisms for it to do so........mainly in the blood vessels.
As you get older, your blood vessels get a bit "thickened" and they are slow to adopt to the "upright position."

Your getting old Bazille.
Bazille, that thing you're bending down to put in the cabinet. It's not a bottle of rum after taking a few snorts is it? That could account for the disorientated feeling:)
