my best friends daughter is getting married soon,'but'they already have there own house for years now,they are not short of a bob or two,as far as I can see they dont need anything,i don't want to give them money.suggestions please...

How much do you want to spend? A meal somewhere? A nice bottle of champers. A donation to a fave. charity of theirs.?
luxury towels. glassware(crystal) photo frames. fancy candles.?
I know it's 100% cheesy, but what about naming a star after them? Like I said, it's cheesy but it's also quite popular I believe.

Last time I was in a similar position I gave a voucher for a garden centre and left them to it.
have you asked them ?
our friends were int he same position - they asked for honeymoon vouchers
I'd ask them directly, if they don't need anything they're likely to agree and maybe go for the cash :) - they're bound to be saving for something/receive a bill for something that it would be appreciated for?

In the same situation I have given a decent bottle of champagne to be opened on their 1st Wedding Anniversary. It's always been appreciated.
When I was at the local framers he was doing a wedding picture -all the guests had signed the outside paper edge and he was fitting chosen pictures of the wedding day in a montage. Perhaps you could ask at your framers -see if they do vouchers or pre-pay for them to have it done -the framer usually provides the outside edge paper for guests to sign as he knows it will fit in the frame.
I think jourdain's idea is a very good one.
