female age 30yrs (overweight)
mother of several children
not on any medication (no medical history)
symptoms started 2 years ago (progressively becoming worse)
swollen legs from ankle to mid thigh (becomes worse after walking)
mottled skin below knee of one leg
seen her gp last week who told her to keep her feet up when resting. Im not a doctor but suspect shes been fobbed off!! Any suggestions fellow medical abbers???
Sounds like chronic venous insufficiency....overweight and due to blood "pooling in the veins of the legs.
Treatment is to lose weight and rest her feet up as much as possible as suggested by her GP.
There are many other causes which will have been excluded by the GP by blood tests.
I agree with the GP and the most commonest cause is chronic venous insufficiency.
