I've got my appointment. But how do they give you a local anaesthetic downstairs. Is it likely to be that sore? I'm quite happy to go without for them to do what they need to do. Ta

\\\\ But how do they give you a local anaesthetic downstairs. Is it likely to be that sore?\\\

The don't and it will probably just be uncomfortable.
I can't remember having one and, as Sqad said, it was more uncomfortable than anything, pain wise anyway, let alone the room of students getting a good look haha! I don't remember them giving it before the biopsy they did either but it was fine.

Ps. if you advise you to "abstain" for a while after, it's definitely for a good reason....!
You may get a bit of bleeding afterwards, so take a sanitary towel with you...I always did after my colposcopy!

Okies, just in the leaflet they said I would be given one. I don't want one anyways. I can live with a little discomfort and some paracetamol :) I will Eve. I've even made OH read the leaflet, I can be a bit funny after having things done anyway.

I shall keep it in mind Sqad thank you
Lol...sqad wears sanitary towels - live that down ;)
;-)
I have had two, no anesthetic just a bit of discomfort like they say above and no pain, you will be fine don't worry.

Lol Tamborine...you brave soul ;)

Thank You try, I'm not worried I just would prefer to be more prepared than what they tell you in the booklets. I'll just be glad when it's over and can know what may or not be the problem.

I'll remember that too :) I'll probably take my iPod too and find something relaxing Disney/Pennies From Heaven or John Barrowman doing show tunes always keep me relaxed. If I can get my laptop repaired before I go might lob son Andre Rieu on as well for good measure
The worst thing about it is the prep the second one starts very quickly.
It is not as bad as it sounds so don't worry
A good piece of advice I was once given (smear test I think as I've always found them quite uncomfortable) was to relax your jaw as your tend to tighten it when in discomfort or anticipating it and relaxing your jaw and letting it drop does help.
