Victorian Post Mortem Photographs

Not to everyone's taste...these photos are haunting and mesmerising...and it's so difficult to see where the living end,and the dead begin.
I've read that though this was a common way to remember the dead,there are fake photos,..I'd assume some of these are. Still,a very curious practice.

I seem to remember reading a few years ago about a trend in the US to pose the dead realistically ...one that stood out was a biker on his Harley .

It is indeed very interesting and not a topic I find ghoulish at all.

Yes Mamya, light stands and seats with neckrests were used for sittings but I think something more....extensive would be needed for non living subjects.

I just found it interesting that they discounted the use of stands for the dead in that link-I am sure people made their own rules though.

pastafreak; The Mirror did an article last year which showed deceased people in various 'poses'; the guy on his Harley, a woman dressed as if she was out on the tiles, a boxer standing in the ring and, if memory serves, a guy sat up in his coffin which was kitted out to look like a car (made to look as if he was driving it!)
