What Could Be Wrong With Me, Difficulty Taking In Information
25 Answers
i have noticed over the years that i have difficulty understanding direction from people like bosses or friends at work. i also notice recently that i do not take in information easily like if someone gives me their name to add to facebook or line messenger etc i will look at that info and name they give me, then i will type in something incorrect , as if i have forgotten allready or i did not take the correct info into my head the first time.
its like some kind of learning difficulty or maybe dementia ? i am a heavy drinker maybe this could be causing it.
i also dont take everything in when talking to people, as if im not listening, its hard to understand unless you expirience it from my end. its like when someone is talking im not listening and im miles away in my thoughts, i dont want to sound ignorant but its like i cant concentrate on the conversation.
i am 47 years old though at school i was top of class with no difficulty learning

we're all ageing, anne; there's no set age at which forgetfulness kicks in, though 47 is on the young side. And the way we learn things in school isn't quite the same as, say, carrying a correctly-spelt name in your head for an hour before trying to type it out. So though I would make alcohol the prime suspect, there may be other natural causes.
sometime people are talking to me, i think after the conversation " what did he say " ? in middle of conversation im focusing on the persons face trying my best to keep in mind what the conversation is about and take everything in but i find myself trying , conversation should be easy free flowing between two people or more.
i drink only beer, to put it into perspective i drink average 6 bottles budweiser 6 days / n ights per week. at weekends maybe 12 bottles fri/sat/sun/ i blame cheap alcohol sales this past 4 years from big supermarkets, they have made it all too easy and tempting with low cost beers on offer .
though its my concentration slowly deteriorating...somethings happening that i cannot understand.
last 2 -3 years ive worked offshore spending 3-4 weeks a month away from home and on a rig, i do not miss drink then, i do not even think about it.

I often look at people talking and watch there mouth move trying to think and understand what they are saying but I just cant grasp it. Its as if I am not all there.
If you rule out all the aging and disease you could also put it down to some enlightenment in your existence or understanding of it.
Remember life is not what you think it is. The future is already the past. You are a spectator. Understanding is key. Let your mind go with it next time. Distance yourself even more.

Your experience sounds not dissimilar to my own. I put my problems down to undiagnosed dementia, although family and friends try to make out it's stress. All I know is that I am not the person I was. I can only hope things improve when I am no longer in the rat race; but I'm not holding my breath (which could be a solution actually).
(And no, I'm not a heavy drinker either.)

ukanonymous, I avoided giving any advice as I know little of the subject, clearly,
//Remember life is not what you think it is. The future is already the past. You are a spectator. Understanding is key. Let your mind go with it next time. Distance yourself even more//
is total nonsense and of no help to anybody!
