Knock once for yes and twice for no.  Would be too afraid to tali I have a very healthy respect for the dead.

I would leave well alone,if you don`t really know what your doing

Yes, and truly frightening. Just 3 of us, fingers on an upturned glass, and an alphabet on the table. No-one pushing I swear, glass moved and spelled GEHENNA (a word of which 2 of us had at the time never heard). Leave well alone I would  say !

Correction - you think noone was pushing the glass . . . In actual fact someone was.

Excuse me EL D. Only one of us had ever heard of the word, and that person's finger was off the glass for some of that word (because of his growing alarm). So thanks for your correction, but not correct. It ended the stupid 'seance'. And hence why I was so frightened and haven't touched it since.

Presume you know what it means now? I only ask because I happen to be reading a book called 'At Gehenna's Door' at the moment, so I've only just discovered that word myself! (Terrible book by the way - don't bother).

I've never been part of a seance, but some friends have, and it freaked them out totally. One was told she would die at 20, and went completely off the rails (she didn't though).

I think usually it's someone mucking about, but I have witnessed some very weird stuff, so I can't discount them completely. I'm too religious to take part in one though.

i have difficulty summoning myself out of bed in the morning never mind the dead!
but a seance is something i would never try anyway
Haha so let me get this straight, an otherworldy being or dead human remaining on our plane of existence, dropped into a seance with some obviously frightened, impressionable and naieve youngsters and decided to spell out the word gehenna? Give me a break . . .

I suggest that one or both or all of you knew the connection between the word gehenna and the realm you thought you were contacting even if you did not know consciously its meaning. Autosuggestion and any variety of subconscious tricks did the rest. Once the G and the E had been selected it triggered this memory and the rest is history. For those who get scared, ask yourself what actually happened - a glass moved? A candle flickered? woah

As for this girl who was told she would die, methinks she likely asked the question and received 20 as an answer - this is entirely different from being told straight up as she subconsciously wanted a figure. If she can't handle the childlike emotions that seances prey on she shouldnt play games that expose them. If people struggle to impose their conscious minds over their subconscious fears then there will always be something scaring them . . .
