Hi everyone.
A few weeks ago, I posted saying that I might have had an attack of gall bladder pain which my GP thought may have been caused by gallstones. I had an ultrasound this Tuesday and this morning my GP phoned me to say that I have lots of small stones and one huge one. She has referred me to a specialist and says that I will probably need an op.
Even though it will be scary having surgery, I am relieved that it's stones because I was so worried it was something more sinister, given the god-awful pain.
I also want to say that the service and care of our GP surgery and local hospital has been brilliant (and very rapid!)!
Thanks to everyone who replied ot my original post too.
Best wishes

As expected mazzymoo.

Thanks for the feedback, I do wish that there were more like you on AB.
it is a simple ultrasonic smashing of stones usually then you pass the bits..if this is not poss keyhole surgery, routine surgery and nowt to worry about..good luck
It may be keyhole surgery but it's still a major OP.

I cancelled my OP day before I was due to go in.
dad had both ultrasonic and keyhole and sailed through it..much preferable to being in pain !
I had my gall bladder removed by keyhole surgery and sailed through .
Was in overnight then home the next day and essentially completely better in two weeks. (Actually pretty well after one week.)
No pain since (thank goodness) and no other nasties.
Don't worry about the op. It's a no-brainer as against the attacks.
