Hi I'm back whingeing again! Thanks to all who offered their advice in my last post above, but sad to say I'm in the same boat. Been stuck at 12st all year. Still doing Juice Plus, feel physically fab on it, and I've made a few changes i.e. I do a different exercise daily, across the week I do strength training, cycling, swimming, and toning. I was told I may suffer from something called oxidative stress, which is basically a chemical imbalance which can store fat among as being responsible for many other things, so my diet is now rich in antioxidant foods, fruits, nuts & seeds. I eat well, 3 times a day as well as the the nutritional shake twice daily. And I have not had one cheat past my lips in over 2 months, but I have not shed a pound. I do not want to change diets again, I enjoy the 'clean eating' on JP and my hair, skin looks fab as well as the painful swelling having diminished on my knees. I packed in smoking Nov'14, and I've been told that this could be the problem - a slow metabolism. Can anyone please advise, I have my dream holiday in 8 weeks time and though I feel great, fitter and toned, but I have not dropped a dress size - all fitness people I ask, always just seem to be about selling me something :-(

Meg....Jenny has posted that she's overweight. I don't think I'd take diet advice from someone who's overweight.

you must be dead skinny yourself - oh lucky you.
Meg...I'm 9st 3lb and 5"6. I eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. I think many people have a problem with portion control and inactivity.

I'm not skinny!
I don't like skinny
I am 5 6 and I am 3 stone LOL mucking about
Hopy you must lurve the luscious, voluptuous ample woman - my brother did and he fairly got his hands round most of them. He nearly lost one of his arms in an accident so he had to make do some times with one arm.
hi, do you have access to a personal trainer? I wonder if you have lost fat but gained muscle which is heavier? I have a couple of diff programmes i do a week which have made a difference inch wise but not weight so much...
& if i'm honest i'm not shrinking as much as i would like because i do eat and drink to much, my trainer gave me examples of a diet i could follow, which was more of a meal plan, nothing was off limits other than processed foods really and was just healthy meals in a sensible portion size, roughly aiming for 1200 calories a day. if i could stick to it i'd be laughing :-D
I agree with Fluff....measure yourself...

Oh what I'd give to be 9st 3! Even 11st 3 at this rate, at least it would mean I'm moving - it's like I've just stalled. Last year & before I used to follow fad diets just to lose, not be fit, but this year was about getting fit and slim, but only one part is working! I've lost inches around my waist because my belly doesn't stick out no more, I'm in proportion but still the same dress size as when I started. I know it's not about dress size, I've been on a body fat scale and I'm 42% fat!!! So I'm still not considered 'healthy'. I think I'm going to cut out the shakes, and maybe calorie deficit for a couple of days per week and see how that goes. I'm just gutted cos I'm running out of time for my holiday
id def cut out the shakes, with your diet as it is i can;t see why you's need them anyway
do you do weight training (not the body building type)

Yes McFluff, I use weights to strengthen my arms and back mucsles as well as wearing wrist weights when on treadmill and doing stomach crunches/sit ups - desperate to get rid of my bingo wings!! My upper body is toning very nicely, even seeing what may be the beginning of some abs!!
i'd stay away from the scales and just measure yourself, you're replacing fat with muscle

if you can get a session with a (good) PT i would recommend it, the gym i'm at you get a free session every 4 weeks officially and they'll do your measurements etc
Your body need to metabolise the fat that you want to shed, so you need to reduce the calorie intake - it's quite simple really. I agree with everyone who says drop the 'shakes', drink water instead - as tea? without milk (of any sort) and sugar, sweeteners are ok - and there's a 500 cal. reduction.
Meg888 I'm sorry but you sound totally obsessed with your food. I would rather be 12 stone and enjoy myself than put myself through all those shakes and things which are obviously not working. I think you are also in denial of what you actually eat because I've done a quick calculation and on what you've said, including the shakes you are nearer to 2000 calories . I could not eat what you are eating a day, it seems a lot, and I'm not trying to lose weight. Bin the shakes!

2000 cals???!! good god I hope not - it's certainly not the way I calculated it, but I'm not going to disagree with you as something is obviously not working and I need to revaluate (again!) I'm totally binning the shakes and think I'll spend the weekend revising my whole diet. I don't do gyms as I have a hearing prob and really don't manage well in noisy places, so I just do all my exercise at home apart from my swimming & cycling.
meg888 nuts and seeds are very high in calories so be careful with those too and best of luck. :-)
My friend lost 12 kg in 2 months

Thanks so much Retro & everyone, I'm really feeling positive again, and going to rethink the whole thing - if it work's i'll let you know - if not, i'll be back whingeing in no time;-) have a good one!
By calculating yourself, you are likely too be way out...probably by several hundred calories per day. Use a site like myfitnespal, or nutrition data...you'll need to weigh everything until you have a true ide of what you are eating.
Like DT,I'd recommend a low carb diet. As long as you eat carbs, you cannot burn fat. Carbs cause the body to release insulin, which is the "fat hormone"... it will cause fat storage. More and more research is proving that it is carbs and not (healthy)fats
