Denture Query

Hi, Today I had a small denture fitted..its has 3 teeth to the left and 1 to the right.
The teeth look fine but they have such a thick bridge that fits to the back of my 2 front teeth that almost covers the back of these front teeth.
No way could I bite on those teeth as there is so little left to use once this plate is in place.
Dentist says it couldn't be made thinner as it might break.....
as it is now it will never break as its in my bag where it will stay.
Anyone have any idea what I might do about this please.
Just feels I have wasted over £200....

I'm now going through round 2 with the Dentist (gulp), think i'll have them actually fitted this time round.

You have a few options (assuming that the denture is made of acrylic and without the benefit of being able to examine you or the denture). Generally speaking, they will be:
1) Accept it as it is
2) Have it adjusted, with the risk of it becoming weaker and risk of fracture
3) Have a chrome denture constructed which can be made in thinner sections as it is stronger than acrylic
4) Consider other options such as a bridge or implants

I have a lot of sympathy for you cupotee - teeth are a nightmare particularly they are a thing of great use for eating, drinking smiling etc.
I did pay a lot of money for mine (private) I have 4 front teeth that wrap around my own teeth with little wires and altogether (with impressions, false dentures for 6 months, extra deep cleaning and now these teeth may have cost £2,500-£3,000 - to be honest I could count it all out on my online account but I didn't want to go there - just coughed up.
The false dentures which were £250 and acrylic were horrendous to me as it felt it was like a massive gobstopper in my mouth and the feeling after 7 months never went away. These chromium ones whilst I can still feel them are much superior. Dentist kept saying go for implants yea I have £5,000 to spend - but I believe they are a great job. Am afraid I am going to stick with these. If you had the money Cupotee (go private and chromium) - also if you don't mind your own teeth being drilled the bridges are good - I could have went for those but what happens they drill good teeth down and crown them with the false teeth - that is called a bridge - I just wanted to keep my own teeth while I can. Hope you get some joy Cupotee - maybe make a better decision next time.
