It is very hard to prove that yours is faster or slower than anyone elses. You can mess with yours by fooling your body into thinking it is starving (ie by not eating/skipping meals.) The body will then naturally slow down it's metabolism to make the energy it gets from food last longer. The problem then occurs when you start to eat normally; the metabolism has slowed down, and you eat more food, your body thinks it is still in starvation mode, and you gain weight.
It is quite complicated come to think of it, but this is how I always understood it...!
