Long Term Post-Herpetic Neuralgia...helpppppp Please

Can anyone recommended anything I can perhaps rub into the area where I had shingles 6-7 years ago please. It was on my boob under my arm pit and round the back to the centre of the back!

I had been taking Pregabolin for several years, but increasingly had a foggy head and just wanted to clear that feeling. ... so cut it down with the help of the practice nurse at the surgery, to lower the dose, with a view to stop taking it altogether.

I have now been off it for a few weeks and my head feels so much better, no fog, but oh boy the pain/burning feeling is horrendous.

I can barely tolerate anything to touch it, my night clothes often end up on the floor as I throw it off in desperation during the night.

If only there was something I could rub on it to ease it....does anyone know of anything or a solution.

I have read its possible for over 60s to never get rid of the problem. After several years I'm fearful Iam one of those people.



But this last few nights I have had hardly any sleep from the burning pain. I have taken a cold wet flannel to bed to lay on the affected are

have you tried capsaicin cream?

I remember trying the cream and the patches at the start when I had the rash..boy did they sting!!!

May well be worth considering trying it again.

I'm dreading going to bed as I can feel it starting already. I cope during the day as its not so constant.

Difficult......may be very difficult.

By now you will have read all the links, websites drugs etc and you are still unhappy.I do not intend to go over them again.

See your GP and ask if you can be referred to a Pain Clinic as a regional nerve block could well offer you some relief.
