How do i go about getting my contraceptive pill from my doctors? Do I have to pay for it? I currently get it for free from a young persons sexual health centre but its a bit of a hassle as its only open for this one day a week between 3 and 4pm! Also i wont be able to get it much longer as im getting too old!! Thanx
The pill is free no matter who prescribes it. You say young persons sexual health centre, I'm presuming that you won't be a young person anymore so wont be able to attend the clinic. The only difference would probably be that instead of actually picking up the pill at your appointment you would have to take prescription to the chemist.
Just book an appiontment at your docs and he will be able to help. Or you could always got the the local Family Planning Clinic (Drs or phone book for numbers, usually held in health clinics). They are very good and if my memory serves me well you will be able to pick up your pills there too.
If there's a young persons sexual clinic there should be a general one, seems a bit strange to only have one. But it's as simple as going to your dts, telling them what you want and picking it up totally free. All contraception should be free in my opinion, not just the pill. I know you can get condoms from your drs or Family Planning Clinic, but I can't see why they aren't free everywhere.
You can get if free from Boots, all they ask you to is fill in a form and ask a few questions and they give it you there and then. They used to charge 20.00 for it but realised it was daylight robbery.
