I Had This Fall..
4 Answers
It will be six weeks since I had this fall whilst walking my little dog. Think I misjudged the kerb & down I went heavily on my left knee. Got home quickly to find a bleeding gash on my knee & sorted that out fine. After all the bruising went, I noticed a sizeable lump just under my kneecap & it wasn't there before my fall. I can walk with absolutely no pain but if I apply any pressure to it, it hurts quite a lot. I obviously don't want to trouble the doctor for such a minor injury but maybe I should?? Do these sort of knocks take a long while to settle down?

It sounds to me like a pre-patellar birsa (Housemaids knee) almost certainly secondary to your fall. Just to say joint injuries seem to take their own sweet time to heal. Jolted my knee a while ago. When it was still hurting (slightly) about three weeks later I went to my GP saying that it didn't seem to be healing, that it was as uncomfortable as it was a few days after the jolt. He said it'd take about six weeks ! In fact I've just realised that I'm no longer noticably troubled. It took at least eight weeks.
