went to bed 2 nights ago, no pain or discomfort whatsoever in my foot, i woke up yesterday to feel as if i had broken a bone in my foot and i could not stand on it ...i can wiggle my toes a little but no pressure at all can be applied when i put sole down.

how could this be possble if i didnt go over on it, hit it, stand on anything, wasnt running....i really cannot see how this has happened .

anyone else ever expirienced something like this ? only thing putting me off going for xray is the 5 hr waiting time. i,ll see it through for a few days hopefully it will heal but i doubt it.

you need to hop to the doc
I've had that, I wonder what it could be? I think it's a twisted muscle or similar. Apart from internal bruising and pain no permanent damage. It will slowly fade leaving a dull ache and bewilderment.
Difficult to be precise with the history that you have given.
Is there any swelling or redness?
Which part of the foot gives you the pain....heel? ball? top of the foot?
Doesn't sound a big deal.
Take Ibuprofen 400mgms up to 4 times a day and try to rest it.
Any old injuries?
diesel..Menorca sunshine will help...right now... get mrs sqad on to the hospital wing..plus guest...I will hand out the pills..between the sun lounger and bar..and club ..and pool..will I bring uniform ?
Plantar fasciitis?
Question Author
no history of knocks on this left foot ,no sprains or falls etc...pain is when i put foot down, can wiggle all toes a little..no bruises or swelling.

one more thing, about a month ago i had similar on right foot, it went away after 2-3 days but wasnt as painfull...this is leaving me bewildered !!

what could it possibly be ?
When you put your foot down, is the pain in the ball of your foot, the heel OR all over your foot?
Could be gout. My first attack caused generalised severe foot pain with similar symptoms to what you describe. Funnily enough, I've never had pain in my big toe, which most people think is diagnostic.
Question Author
pain is on top of my foot above toe area and on sole of my foot on same area near toes...not heel.

feel as if its a broken bone. no swell or bruising
Ah! thanks, this is going top be a diagnosis by exclusion.

Plantar fasciitis.......extremely unlikely as the pain is in the wrong place.
Gout? Interesting suggestion but unlikely as the pain is present all the time and is associated with swelling and redness.

That leaves the likeliest cause.....tendonous strain due to probable excessive repetetive strain....i.e unaccustomed running.

My advice.....rest as much as possible and take the medication that I suggested.

There is just one "outsider" that has to be considered and that is a stress fracture of the metatarsal, which can only be diagnosed on X-Ray.

Give it a week....if no improvement, then see GP.

thanks squad i think your right, pain is / has eased throughout day....forgot to say, im taking strong vitimin b12 for very very bad muscle spasms / cramps in legs, exremely exrutiating every night , because im lacking b12 maybe these spasms have affected muscles in foot ?

just a thought
Question Author
next morning , now, pain is excrutiating, worse than ever....xray tomorrow if it is still bad.

dumbfounded how this has happened.
Thanks for the feedback, let us know the result of the X-Ray if performed.
Okay, what have you done with the real Sqad? We all know 600mgms of Ibuprofen is the standard dose around these parts, now hand him over.
LOL..........^^^^^^.........have joined the" peace keeping force."
Question Author
cant even take ibrophen 600mg , i have liver problem.
Question Author
just out of hospital, xray shows no fracture or break, doc says its a very bad sprain on muscle and sometimes this can be worse than a break. need keep it elevated and ice packs / ibrophen gel at night .
diesel........the diagnosis and suggested treatment is reasonable & thanks for the update.
diesel....remember if you are using ibuprofen gel, you need to watch how many tablets you take. ;)
