Just a bit of a strange cure, which I heard about a few years ago: Soaking your feet in urine, soothes and cures chilblains. (I'm not recommending this, just thought I'd share that bit of info with you)...Urrrggghhh!!!
I had them really badly a few years ago, I moved home from living in a warmer country and my poor feet suffered... alot of it has to do with your circulation, so if you can get some more exercise in, that'll help.  Also, if you fill a basin with hottish water and another basin with cold water and dip your feet in alternatively, or just run the cold tap in the bath and put your feet under the water. Another really good help I discovered was to apply essential oil of black pepper - it really does help with the itching and soreness.  It is a very strong oil so be careful you don't get it in your eyes.  Gingko biloba is also good for circulation, but don't take it if you are taking warfarin. Also, your blood gets more sticky and so it's harder for it to get around your body if you eat alot of sugar, so try and eat lots of fruit and veg and drink lots of water.  Whew I think that's enough now!
Wispy68 - I've heard that too - it is supposed to work! However, I'm not sure that the circulation thing and exercise has anything to do with it - I used to get them at school when I did loads of exercise (in all the school teams for tennis, hockey, netball, gymnastics, swimming etc . . ) and then, in my twenties, I just never got them again.
Hi lindapinda, I've suffered in the past with chilblains  they had been so itchy I felt like getting a wire brush to them, I used to get them bad as a youngster in the winter after playing out in the snow then coming in and heating my feet by the fire to get them warm, and yes urine does work because that was my mam's cure passed down by her mother, ( the cure that is, not the wee!  ) ha! ha!   xxx  :-)

Thanks for all your suggestions!! Am doing a lot of that stuff, cotton socks, gingko biloba, water, exercise etc,but I will certainly try the other things as well. catwoman, was most relieved that the wee was not a family heirloom!! I also take adelat retard tablets prescribed by the doctor, and although they work pretty well at times, they can be abit hit and miss.

I've only had chilblains once-horrific. I got some tablets from a herbal store which did the trick in a couple of days, but for the life of me I can't remember what they were called.

I suggest you go to a reputable herbal store for advice, I'm sure they will be able to help.
