Cystitis Again
3 Answers
I have never had bladder problems but in October/November last year I had cystitis twice within just a month or so. I was treated both times with antibiotics. This coincided with not passing urine much at all (I believe I posted about this at the time as I was quite concerned). I had an ultrasound scan & that was clear & showed noting to be concerned about.
On Tuesday this week I woke with awful low down back pain & then burning when I had a wee. Yesterday it eased but this morning it was back worse than ever. I took a sample to my doctors for testing & it revealed protein & blood. I have now been told a prescription for antibiotics is waiting for collection tomorrow morning. The burning has eased off again this afternoon but I had awful incontinence this morning..absolutely no control over my bladder at all. Luckily I was at home!
The doctor I spoke to this afternoon about the result has suggested popping in to speak to one of the GP's about having an estrogen cream. I will do this hopefully next week but would a cream help with bladder problems? Apologies for my ignorance. I am post menopausal.

This link suggests that recurring urinary infections may be linked to vaginal dryness which, in turn, can be treated with oestrogen creams. Perhaps that's what your GP is thinking about? http:// patient. info/ health/ vaginal- dryness- atrophic- vaginitis This might also help ( particularly the 'prevention' section):...

I picked up my prescription yesterday morning. 12 x 50g Nitrofurantoin capsules, one four times a day. Yesterday I had absolutely no pain, burning or discomfort. I woke up early this morning with the sudden urge to empty my bladder. The burning had retuned with a vengeance. I started to sweat a lot & had sudden increase in saliva building up in my mouth. I was then sick. I did think I was going to pass out which was worrying as I live on my own. I don't know why I was fine Friday but so bad again today. I feel lousy/drained & just hope the tablets soon relieve my symptoms
