I suppose so, sitting in an armchair. I have one of these BP monitors which also give a pulse reading. The BP readings vary from hour to hour but the pulse reading is constant around the 110 mark. Mind you, I am smoking and drinking.

Jack, I'm quite a bit older than you and my pulse at rest is around 60 beats per minute. I think if I were you I would have it checked out just to be on the safe side.

Only had this gizmo a week. BP goes up and down like a you-know-whose drawers, but the pulse seems to be constant around the 110 mark. You're probably right Sqad. Silly to take readings when half-cut and smoking my head off.

I think these machines are dodgy. An hour ago my BP was 135/95. Now it is 95/70. Pulse still the same though @110.

You should be aware that there is such a thing as a "white coat effect" which refers to the blood pressure becoming artificially raised by a sort of tension in anticipation of the result, discomfort over being checked when it may matter. The margin can be as much as of the order of 40mm on the systolic (first figure). It is unusual for there to be any significant similar effect on heart rate. For comparison, my at rest heart rate is between 56 and 62 - I am 70 years old. You should check under sober, etc. conditions and also seek medical assessment.

Most impressive, but he seems to have left his lasagne back in the Pavilion.

Caffeine tends to mess up the heartbeat. When I once was having too much my heart was fluttering all over the place and missed beats. Proper scary at the time.

If you think the machine is dodgy have you checked your pulse in the old-fashioned way - finger on your neck and a second hand?
