I recently met an old friend who I haven't seen for about 6 months, she's always been a bit of a fitness junkie however I was shocked at the strange way she walked towards me - it was like she had no control of her arms, they were swinging about in an exagerated manner and she was taking wide strides - it was almost like she was playing a joke on me! It really alarmed me though, but since she didn't reference it I certainly wasn't going to ask her anything. It is really worrying me though - What could this be a symptom of?

Yes Bathy - you can hit the deck without the dizziness - called drop down attacks - I had one when I was walking Harvey -

Just chuntering along and dropped - Harvey ran on into the park and left poor oul me. BUT - a bus came along - driver got out and picked me up. Oh Woe it was so embarrassing.
Recently I was watching Billy Connoly and it seems a stranger suggested he should ask to be tested for .. Parkinsons .. and the reason he suggestef this was because of the way Billy walked.

or it could just be that she was trying to raise her heartrate by marching while walking 0 - loads of people do it. Especilly if she didn't do it later on
Is she a fan of Monty Python's 'Ministry of Silly Walks?'
JJ.....I dropped on Friday, as I was in my drive and about to get in my car. The avenue was so quiet, and I knew I would need help to get up, but luckily a bloke delivering leaflets had seen me, and came to help me up.
Have you had a brain scan or any other tests?

Sorry for thread hi-jack april ;)

TIA's maybe Bathwater. Had a couple myself over recent years...Just dropped. My doctor said it was them, but then, my record of correct diagnosis is pretty poor.
Bathy - would be a little afraid of brain scans at the mo. Just coping with vertigo when it arises, of course one gets no warning so therefore one cannot make arrangements for long weekends away, lunch, dinner with friends.

I so owe one friend a lunch and I would like to make it this Friday - can I make the arrangement - no, have to wait until Friday morning as I awake from my slumber.
Oh no Postie, never thought of TIAs.....because they aren't!!
Got the idea of Parkinson's from somewhere today...:(
J J,....can you always get up without help if you're alone?
I had to have physio cos my core muscles were bolloxd after lying down for 6 months :(

Would suggest that anyone who has fallen down for no reason and possibly passed out for a second or two cease driving until fully checked out.... if indeed they do drive.
Thanks Mally, but I never lose consciousness and have asked both my GP and Neurologist if I'm ok to drive and theyu have both said yes.
Now, my friend with narcolepsy........that's another story ;)
