I quit smoking after 20 years last December and went onto vaping. I feel much healthier physically from not smoking and I always hated the smell too so win win.

BUT I only vape when I feel the urge to have a nicotine fix and I get some very strange side effects including a feeling of anxiety and slight confusion. Does anyone else have strange effects from Vaping?

You're not supposed to stick it in your ear gness! ☺
And I can confirm that Baldric has the most tremendous will power.....

There have been two Irish lasses.....well pensioners actually.....in his shrubbery for months now.....and not a glance has he given us......♥
If you still feel the need for a fix of nicotine then you have not been weaned of of your addiction. Which is hardly surprising given that the practice of "lighting up" and sucking down nicotine laden fumes hasn't significantly changed. Which is why folk can claim you've not really given up anything. Not yet anyway.

As for the strange effects, I can only guess that you are not yet used to the different set of chemicals you are taking in. Vaping is certainly not a healthy habit. (And as smoking, if affects those around you.) You want to try to cut down as soon as you are able.
Ahhhh....so Baldric has been watching us!....Hmmmmm.........x

Baldric. Perhaps I should educate you on the meaning of "willpower". Without the desperation to fail in your endeavour will power would not exist. Meaning that will power means that you have to battle urges to get the end result. Had you just said that you quit easily and had no assistance I would believe that you would not have taken help. but as you said willpower you are saying that there were many times you failed but had to battle on so don't tell me that you would not have taken the help if it were available back in the days of horse and cart!

Difference is, you're still addicted, so Good Luck with that.
I gave up cigarettes on 30th October, last year. I agree with you, PP about only using them when I feel the need to. My theory is that, I'm getting a stronger rush of nicotine than I did with real cigarettes and therefore don't feel the need to keep lighting up.

I've had no bad side effects at all. My chest is clear and I hardly cough, at all now. If been smoking since I was 18, back in 1968.

Who says I have to be "weaned off my addiction?" If my addiction is healthier and safer, what's the harm???

Ever tried non-alcoholic booze, OG?

Thanks Chrissa good sensible words and all on board
Yes I've tried it out of curiosity. But I don't drink enough to find it a useful substitute.
Keep vaping pp, better than cigarettes.

thank you Anne, my sentiments entirely. My mrs actually wants to cuddle up to me now that i dont smell of smoke but on the plus side i can get away quicker haha!
It's the nicotine rush that cause the symptoms. Can you remember your first ever cigarette?
Question Author
Jack, me ol mate, I cant remember my last *** let alone my first cigarette but i guess you are right. thank fella and polibidacious responses by the way
these vape things are useful tool to give up smoking but as balders says you have merely changed the nicotine delivery system to a slightly safer one. Now the real work begins. Good luck and well done for giving up conventional snout.
There's not really anything wrong with nicotine by itself, though. It's all the harmful additives and chemicals in real cigarettes, that are the problem.
Snout, TTT? Didn't know you were an ex-con☺
True, Chrissa, it's about as harmful as caffeine (according to a doctor on TV)
..watched Fletch in his flowery dell in porridge me old china.

Thanks tora.

Vaping consists of nicotine, which only in it's pure form is lethal. inhaling it is addictive but not lethal. so I am much safer without all the other chemicals and tar and thermaldahyde (cant spell) etc.. so I am happy to vape forever but not if it makes me dizzy
chrissa: "There's not really anything wrong with nicotine by itself, though. It's all the harmful additives and chemicals in real cigarettes, that are the problem." - it's a lethal nerve agent 50mg is lethal to humans, I'd say that's harmful stuff.
