Problems With Lithium Serum Levels
5 Answers
I have taken Lithium for most of the last 20 years. My serum levels have always been about 0.6/0.7 in my three monthly blood tests.
This time it was 1.3 and the surgery contacted me so that I could get it retested. This was done this morning and I am to go back to see the doctor next week.
Before then I want to try and work out when could have caused this unexpected increase in the serum levels.
My eyesight is a bit blurry just now, something that I put down to my diabetes. I am a bit muddle headed but have been much worse. I am having a problem with focusing my thoughts - tried googling this but kept getting sidetracked. My sense of humour is still intact though - always a good thing. I hope that someone can help

sqad ~ I know that Therapeutic lithium levels are in the 0.4 to 1.0 mmol/L range. And my readings have always been in the middle of that range. No idea of the 'official' toxic dose.
As long as my kidneys aren't compromised this will probably be just a blip (I hope).
I am off to do my shopping in cyberspace now.
