My son suffers with bunyons on both feet and apart from having surgery I dont think there is a lot you can do about them is there? . What causes bunyons to form and is there any foot spray which might numb the pain or maybe some ointment you can get from the chemist.  My mum used to suffer terribly with bunyons but she seems ok these days and she is 85 - is it something that ever goes away or do you have to have them surgically removed?

No, sadly I don't think bunions every disappear but buying comfortable shoes which are wide enough can help, and prevent unnecessary pinching or chaffing which only makes the pain worse.  Also, chemists' shops sell a range of patches and protectors which can protect them.
